Under-aware

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.
- Sun Tzu

Pictures show Iraq's Saddam in his underwear:
A picture of Saddam Hussein in his underpants splashed across the front-page of Britain's biggest-selling daily newspaper on Friday prompted an outraged reaction from his lawyers.

The Sun newspaper quoted U.S. military sources as saying they had handed over the pictures 'in the hope of dealing a body blow to the resistance in Iraq.'

Two years into their "accomplished mission", the Pentagon still believes they're fighting Saddam loyalists. One more reason to see the war in Iraq as Vietnam-redux. The difference being that, during Vietnam, there was no spectre like Osama Bin Laden hovering over the homefront, promising more chaos.

Anyone else feel a draft in here?

Orientate This!

Like most depressives who find a crutch to cling to, I've been hitting the job boards pretty hard lately. But the grammar Nazi in me never fails to be amazed by phrases like this:

"customer service orientated"

It's the orientated that kills me. When did "oriented" fall out of favour? Perhaps it has too many sexual (i.e. GAY) connotations... yet another innocent casualty of the Bush era.

Or perhaps it's a "big word" thing? I imagine the extra syllable makes the job posters feel more content with their vocabulmalaries

So Very, Very Cute

Also so very, very cheesy, albeit in an organic way... Grocery Store Wars!
